And the award goes to....

One of the reasons I knew we needed to change the way eat in the Miller household is because of my oldest daughters eating habits. She's only 10 and already eating because she's bored or eating cuz it's a party, and eating all the wrong stuff...all the stuff I do and have unfortunately taught her to do. Her weight for her age and height reflected this and was 'off the chart'.

Enter clean eating.....
I'm still not 100% clean eating, but mostly I am. I haven't bought commercial bread in about a month. And this naturally trickles down to my children. They eat A LOT healthier. I make their breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. No more trips to fast food restaurants (sometimes twice a day.) And I'm happy to say (although Ash may be embarrassed that I'm letting the cyber world know this) she is down 11 pounds in 2 1/2 months. I can tell she's feeling a lot better too. She's outside playing more, jumping on the trampoline more, and happily going for walks with me. So even though my own weight loss seems soooooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooowwwwwwww - I feel there is a huge reward in my efforts when every I look at my beautiful daughter.

Hooray. I actually was noticing Ash yesterday at church and did think she looked a bit trimmer. That's so wonderful for your family and for your $$! :)

You rock! Really... I love running into you so often out working out. I think it is great that you made a decision to help your children's health. Wish more parents would recognize the difference they can make (and take accountability).... I think you are looking great by the way... as long as it is moving in the right direction slow is ok :)

Shannon you should be so happy about this! A HUGE thing for me to teach my children is to throw food away...even if it is a few bites. This is hard for me to do, easy for them...

The other day Hayden told me ( as I was cleaning up his Easter candy he didn't eat) that he decided he might not eat it all. He also said he has lost 2 lbs. I was ad that he even is thinking about it (I don't say that to him!) but proud that he is aware...he watches the Biggest Loser with me and I think it motivates him.

FOR ME- i have noticed things feeling better and a few more pounds coming off as I have upped my times a week I workout. 2 or 3 just isn't enough for me anymore. I try to go 4 or 5, and it is helping. Keep going! You inspired me to quit buying white bread...although I have not conquered baking bread yet! Maybe someday I will be as cool as you....

You go girl. Changing eating habits is such a huge undertaking. Even when I changed my eating habits I tried not to let it affect my family because I didn't want the backlash.
I agree with not making weight an issue with my daughters. I always focus on...lets try to have a healthy snack, or trying to counter some of the fad things they hear. But changing the food so completely seems like a herculean task. Good Job!

I just commented on facebook then came here! So happy for you and Ash and the whole family. It's so hard to change a lifestyle and I am so impressed and inspired by you. Loved this post.
